( it was a far different thrill than that on a mission, and still his heart thudded hard in his ears, cheeks aching with private amusement at the whole silliness of things. little doubt that this was a proper challenge between the both of them, who would reach their target first, but the reality of how it had come about remained absurd even as it endeared.
being trained for hefty athletics rather than speed, bucky was definitely slower than matt, especially with the other man running in parallel and leaping over half of the things in bucky's way. jumping across really did seem to have been the wiser choice, at least in terms of winning. (not that bucky was really losing, either way.) )
