If you say so. Pasta and... chicken? Or seafood?

[He was coming up on the bodega, knowing they had frozen shrimp available along with fresh chicken. He wasn't entirely sure on his lady love's food preferences. Yet.]

Mmm, I usually love seafood, but I think I want chicken. What kind of sauce are you making?

[It's amazing how easily she's forgotten about the mugging. She's not even all that upset about her shoe.]

I'll tell you about what happened when you get here. But I really am find.

For chicken? Probably an alfredo. If they had beef or pork here, I'd do a red sauce. And I'll be the judge of whether you're fine or not. You got mugged, Alexis. Are you sure you don't need me to call a doctor?

[He knew the answer was no, but he wasn't supposed to know, so he had to ask.]

Ooh, yum! I can't wait! Really, I'm fine. My wrist hurts but it's nothing!

Do you have ice? I can get a cold pack.

I have some ice. And Advil. It's just tender.

[It's swollen and finger bruises are wrapped around it, but she doesn't think it's a big deal.]

Uh huh. Well I'll take a... feel of it when I get there.

[Paying for what he needed and leaving to head to her place now.]

I’ll see you soon, and be careful, okay?

[It’s late, and she doesn’t want him to fall into the same issue she did going home. While she waits for him, she pours them both a glass of wine. She gets some ice into a plastic ziplock bag and wraps it with a towel before settling it on her wrist with a wince.]

I'm always careful.

[Hah. But he was using his cane as a pretense only, barely tapping as he made his way along the streets to her brownstone. He arrived and rang the bell.]

[She scurries to the door and opens it with a bright grin. She throws her arms around him for a hug.]

Hi! It’s so good to see you!

[He catches her belatedly, smiling as he wraps the arm around her that doesn't have bags and a cane in it. A kiss to the side of her cheek, then he leans back a bit.]

Okay, let's take a poke at this wrist of yours and see how bad it is.

[She pecks his cheek affectionately and then kissed him full on the lips because she can. She lets him into her place and takes the bag to take a peek at the goodies. At his request, she presents to him her wrist.]

I put ice on it like you said.

Does it hurt still?

[Bag down, cane folded, he reaches for her and her arm, already picking up on the broken blood vessels, the hematoma, the fact she was careful with it. Nothing broken, nothing too bad, but she'd have a bruise as a reminder.]

Not too bad. I've had worse!

[She appreciates how gentle he is with her wrist. His touch is delicate and tender. She's trying not to move it much because it twinges uncomfortably when it does.]

I totally had it, but Daredevil helped me out. I knew he was a thing, but seeing him-- never met a superhero before.

Daredevil, huh? I've heard about him.

[And that wasn't even a lie. He heard about all the things he did and things he didn't do that got attributed to him a lot. He just tried to keep the grins to himself. But he had to laugh a little at her comment.]

Not sure he's a superhero, Alexis. He's a guy in a suit that beats people up. Come on, let's go keep the ice on it and I'll get dinner started. If it hurts in the morning, you should go see a doctor to make sure it's not sprained.

[Alexis is uncharacteristically quiet for a moment. There's that niggling in her brain again. She watches Matt's mouth, sparks of something almost there but not quite. She lets him guide her to the kitchen where she's left her ice pack.]

You don't approve of him?

I'm a lawyer, Alexis. I put people away for doing what he does.

[He was a hypocrite, but he also didn't lie to her. He just avoided answering. Daredevil had come into being as the answer to a problem that going the legal route hadn't fixed. Some people were too slippery. Shit didn't stick to them. Those people needed to be beaten to within an inch of their lives and the fear of the devil put in them so they stopped doing the things that kept him up at night.]

Just because you do something doesn't mean anything. I exercise, but have I had lipo? Maybe a little here and there.

[She gives a little shrug like it's no big deal. She respects what Matt does. She respects what Daredevil does. They're like two signs to a coin. Law and justice.]

The criminal justice system isn't perfect. It's the best we have, but there's still cracks. Like I get it, you know? You both do a thing.

Preaching to the choir, Lexi love. It's frustrating to know that I can do everything right and by some slip up or twist of a word, some scumbag's out on bail doing exactly what put him in court in the first place.

[Too many cracks to slip through, too many criminals hurting old ladies, children, innocent parties that were just struggling to live paycheck to paycheck. Too many reasons for him to put that costume on and go punish them in a more tangible way. He slid his hand down to her hand, turning it so he could let his fingers graze over the bruises.]

I hope this vigilante at least gave him a few bruises.

You know I think you're amazing, right? Your job is like way hard, and it's so heavy. Yet somehow you get up everyday and keep doing it.

[There's appreciation and admiration in her tone. They're both hard workers, but Matt goes out and fights the good fight in a system that was cruel and not always just. She's smiling at his tender touch and the endearment that falls from his lips. She giggles a little when she recalls how the mugging went down.]

Well. He did save me from getting stabbed, but I kinda whacked the guy with my purse until my shoe broke.

Your shoe broke? Huh. I think Foggy's got a cobbler cousin if you want to try to get it fixed.

[Foggy had a lot of family. Most of them were in the butcher business. Maybe that was why Foggy was always so keen to allow for the barter of food for services. Pie over pork.

He grinned at her, leaning in a little and lifting a hand to cup her face, to guide his to hers so he could kiss her cheek.]

I'm glad you're okay. Maybe we should look into me walking you home at night. Or maybe you taking an Uber here instead of walking.

Really? You think he could hook me up? I really like them.

[It would be a lifesaver if he could. She's loathed to throw them away. She's living a little more comfortably now, but she's a far cry from the socialite heiress she'd once been. She can just go buy designer shoes willy nilly though her heart wants to.

Matt's grin is irresistible. Thoughts of Daredevil fall away as he guides her in for a kiss. It's not enough to have a kiss on the cheek. She turns her head and kisses him softly.]

Matty, I'd love that, but I don't want to put you out.

Making sure you're in one piece and stay that way isn't putting me out.

[He smiled back at her, thumb gentle on her cheek before he sighed and drew away.]

Now, time to feed you. Why don't you pull out a pan and pot for me?

[Her nose brushes against his. She feels such a surge of affection for him and the care he shows for her. She gives him one last peck before she digs around for a pot and pan to set on the stove. She's quick to explain the kitchen layout for him and where everything is in relation to him. She's pretty good at it. Alexis has amazing attention to detail.]

How was your night?

[She really is. Matt figures that if he didn't have his extra spatial abilities to navigate, he'd be able to pretty easily by her directions alone. He started to pull out everything he needed to cook, lips pursing as he thought of how to answer that.]

Not as exciting as yours. I didn't run into any vigilantes.
