No. Just a little sore.

[ Her hand gently rubs her wrist which is beginning to bruise. The man's meaty fingers have left their mark on her. She frowns as she stares at her broken shoe. She's actually more upset about that. ]

I really like these shoes. I got them in Paris during Fashion Week back in 2010 from Amelie Pichard herself!

[Matt was fashion blind, for a variety of reasons, but he was always aware of the quality of things. Leather, silk, lace, velvet. He could tell high quality without even touching it. Even in her casual dress, Alexis dressed... high end. Whatever shoes she was mad about smelled liked something that was made with high quality leather and glue. He sighed, then turned back to the man.]

You broke her shoes. I don't know if I'm going to be able to save you now.

[A joke, of course, but he was already reaching for a zip strip, ready to put the would-be mugger down and truss him up before leaving him for the police.]

You should call the cops, Miss. And maybe a cobbler.

[She blows out a soft sigh. She doesn't know any cobblers. The only cobbler she knows are the fruit kind. Which reminds her that she's a little hungry, and she wants something sugary and bad for her to chase away the ick of this evening. She pulls out her cellphone to call 911 as he advises, but her eyes keep studying him thoughtfully.]

I'm Alexis, by the way. And thank you. For saving me.

[He's bent over the man, tugging his arms behind his back as he works the strap over his wrists.]

Not sure I did. You seemed to have it in hand.

[Still, it made more sense to jump in than have her deal with it. And he felt a surge of satisfaction that he'd been able to do so. She was rubbing her wrist and he could tell she'd have bruises there, a lingering reminder, and it just made him want to kick the mugger again. In the dick.

He didn't, but he wanted to.]

You should wait somewhere closer to the light. You'll want them to see you when they pull up and he might have friends.

You'll keep me safe.

[She says it so matter-of-factly without a doubt in her mind. There's something about his voice. Or maybe it's his mouth. She moved closer to try and get a better look. There's something needling in her brain about it. Maybe she's just painfully curious about him.

Admittedly, he's definitely hot. He's got this dangerous edge to him. Has she been single, she would've been flirting hard, but she's got Matt. She's still fascinated about him though.]

How long have you been doing this?

[Matt wasn't stupid. He knew Alexis wasn't either, despite how easy he'd seen people dismiss her intelligence on first meeting. Sucked to be them, because here was a woman who'd made something of herself. Was she a little affluent? Yes. But she wasn't cruel about it, unlike some of the silver spoon types he'd met.

His lips twitched in a smile at the fact she laid out there so firmly. Yes, of course he'd keep her safe, but it just amused the hell out of him that she was so sure of it. Most people, even the ones he helped, would be running by now. Not trying to strike up a conversation.]

You don't read the papers?

Like literally? No. I usually get my news from Twitter. Or DeuxMoi.

[She gives a little shrug. Besides, she likes hearing it straight from the source. No better than from the mouth of the Devil himself.]

Will you walk me home too?

I think the police can give you an escort.

[Probably better, since he didn't think they'd want him lingering around when they took her information. And he should probably finish up his rounds and get home so he could play the concerned boyfriend coming over.]

But I'm not done talking to you yet.

[She gives an adorable little pout, one that can certainly be heard in her voice. Since he hasn't moved away, she gets in his space and studies him to try and figure out why he's making her brain wonky. It's like she's forgetting something. It's something she can't quite put her finger on. It drives her nuts.]

Whoever designed your suit, they get major kudos. It's very well made!

I'll tell him you approve.

[He couldn't see the pout, but he could hear it, and it made the corner of his mouth tick up. A shove with his foot at the man on the ground, and then he started to walk towards the fire escape in the alley, intending to use it to go back up on the roof.]

I'll keep watch overhead until the police get here.

What, like my guardian devil?

[She's still put out that this exchange isn't lasting longer. She's got so many questions. Part of her kinda wants to ask him out for coffee though she knows he'll decline. She can't help but follow after him though her eyes zeroes in on his ass in that suit.]

What do I do if I want to thank you?

[He was grinning as he headed over to the escape, hearing sirens in the distance and knowing they'd be here in a few minutes. A leap up and he was hanging onto the lower rung, then hefting himself up in a smooth pull.]

You just did.

You know that's not what I meant!

[She gives a little huff as she watches him haul himself up the fire escape like it's nothing. He's definitely well trained with how easy he makes it looks. She wobbles on her broken heel.]

Well, thank you!

[She's still sulking when she goes to the entrance of the alley. The police show up not long after. They take her statement and offer to call EMS, but she declines. She just wants to go home and put ice on her swollen wrist.]

[He watches from above, making sure she's okay, deciding to stay on the rooftops until she gets home so he can make sure she doesn't need a second intervention before he has to bolt back home in case she decides to call him. Which he's kind of hoping she does, because he doesn't want her thinking he wouldn't care if she got hurt and scared.]

[It's an awkward walk home. Alexis isn't going to be caught dead walking barefoot in the city, so she has to hobble in one broken shoe. When she gets home, she gets an ice pack for her wrist. It's swollen and bruises an ugly purple color. She really misses Matt. She calls him in case he's worried. She texted him awhile ago that she was heading home with no follow up. When he answers, she sinks into her couch with a sigh.]

Hi, babe.

Alexis?

[If he sounded a bit out of breath, that wasn't his fault. He'd just skidded in the upper stairs of his rooftop entrance and had made it down to his phone as it was ringing. The burner phone vibrated against his hip, but he didn't want to have her pick up on outside sounds. Hitting answer, he pulled his helmet off, panting a little before taking a deep breath to calm himself, get his heartrate back to normal.]

You okay? You sound... low.

[His voice is a comfort. She means to get up and grab a bottle of wine too, but now that she's seated, she doesn't want to move. Her mind keeps wandering to Daredevil and his ass, and it makes her feel a little guilty.]

I'm okay. I was mugged on the way home. I'm fine, but the guy probably isn't. So sucks to be him.

Mugged? Really? Are you sure you're okay? Do you want me to come over?

[He hadn't been to her place properly yet, but he knew where it was, had been trailing her for long enough to have a route there and back. Just to keep her safe.

The downside to a vigilante boyfriend was that their love language often looked a lot like stalking.]

I'm fine! That guy-- Daredevil or whatever. He came to save the day.

[She brightens at his offer to come over. She wants nothing more, but she knows it's late. She doesn't want to put him out. All Alexis can think about now is how nice it would be to curl up with him.]

Are you sure you don't mind coming over?

I've heard about him.

[Said the blind man in a Daredevil outfit trying to scramble out of it so he could get dressed in regular clothes.]

Hey, I don't mind. Something like that can shake you up, even someone like you, Lexi. I can be over in about fifteen, twenty?

Yeah. That sounds perfect. I can send you my address.

[There's relief in her tone. She's not completely shaken up, but she could use a good cuddle. She wants him to come fawn over her. He's probably way overdue coming over to her place anyway.]

I have wine but not much food, just a warning.

I can bring over food to cook or pick something already made. Up to you.

[His lawyer suit was just the perfect counterpoint to the kevlar and body armor. Wearing one over the other always helped his mind go to where it needed. Kevlar brought out more aggression, the scent of blood and sweat on it a very specific thing. Linen and cotton brought his mind back to the more delicate things. Using his words. His brain. He could do that. Shoes on, hair sort of combed, he was picking up what he needed to go over to her place, including his cane.]

Wait. You cook?

[She's suddenly incredibly intrigued now. She forgets for a moment that that it's late, and he's probably tired. Alexis is a terrible cook. She doesn't know how. The few times she's attempt has ended in disaster, so she doesn't bother. Baking is different she'd had some success, but that's mostly with supervision. She always does well with someone to guide her.]

Kinda had to. My dad couldn't to save his life. Or mine.

[Of all the things for her to be impressed about, and he could hear the interest in her voice, his cooking amused him.]

What's your favorite thing to make? No, no. What are the best at making?

[And just like that, her aching wrist and Daredevil is forgotten. She's so excited to learn more about this new tidbit she's learned about him. They can talk more about the mugging when he gets there.]
